How iN-TEA is Helping the Planet, One Cup at a Time

Reusing Tea Leaves + Spring Tea + Garden Tips

At iN-TEA, we love a good cup of tea—and we also love doing good for the planet. As the earth begins to thaw and spring awakens around us, it's the perfect time to highlight how something as simple as a used tea leaf can play a role in a more sustainable future.

Don’t Toss Those Tea Leaves!

Did you know that used tea leaves are rich in nutrients and can be repurposed in your garden, compost bin, or even around your home? Instead of tossing them in the trash, consider these eco-friendly ways to reuse them:

  • Feed Your Garden: Tea leaves are full of nitrogen, which is great for soil health. Sprinkle them directly into your garden beds or mix them into compost to boost the nutrient content.

  • Pest Deterrent: The scent of tea leaves can help deter some pests naturally, without the need for chemicals.

  • Deodorize Naturally: Place dried used tea leaves in the fridge, litter box, or trash bin to help absorb odors.

And here's the best part: we’re saving them for you! We often have 3-gallon bags of used tea leaves available for free. Just let us know you’d like one, and we’ll set it aside.

Sip Into Spring

Alongside our compost-friendly habits, we’re celebrating the season with some of our freshest spring teas. From floral blends to bright greens and seasonal white teas, spring is the perfect time to refresh your palate and reconnect with nature. Not sure what to try? Swing by and let us brew you a sample!

Small Sips, Big Impact

By reusing and recycling whenever we can—even our tea leaves—we’re committed to being a tea shop that’s mindful of its footprint. Whether it's offering compostable to-go cups, sourcing sustainably grown teas, or helping our community give tea leaves a second life, we believe every small action matters.

So next time you visit, ask us about taking home a bag of used tea leaves. It’s just one more way we’re brewing better habits—together.
